Question
What load chain is used on an ARO spark resistant hoist? Has the load chain recently changed?
Answer
Through reviews of our product portfolio, we continually look for opportunities to improve performance and value for our hoist models to make sure we provide the best-in-class products to our users. This announcement is to communicate a change in the type of load chain used in our spark resistant ARO pneumatic hoist models. Effective immediately, spark resistant ARO hoists models will now utilize our zinc-plated chain profile.
Zinc-plated chain is a non-sparking material that has improved durability compared to the previous stainless steel load chain profile, extending the life of the chain. Per the latest ATEX standards (Directive 2014/34/EU), using zinc-plated chain in our spark resistant ARO models will continue to allow us to meet the requirements of Zone 1 spark resistant environments.
The change in the chain material and finish on these units will bring about updates for all product manuals, catalogs, and specifications on our product website.
