The D3331 IQV20™ Cordless Right Angle Drill is designed for drilling and fastening in confined spaces around vehicles, machinery, and equipment. Its 3.3-inch head height helps reach locations where a standard drill may not fit, while cordless operation provides mobility without hoses or power cords.
The brushless motor delivers up to 355 in-lb of torque for drilling metal and driving fasteners. A ⅜-inch keyless chuck, two speed modes, and a variable-speed trigger support a range of maintenance, repair, and assembly tasks.
Safety Notice
Read and follow the applicable tool, battery, charger, and accessory safety information before use. The features described here do not replace the safety instructions or operating procedures for your tool.
Drill Applicability
The D3331 supports drilling and fastening where access is restricted, including the following applications:
| Work Area | Typical Applications |
|---|---|
| Vehicle service and interior repairs | Installing telematics devices, switches, control modules, and aftermarket accessories behind dashboards. |
| Suspension, frame, and driveline service | Drilling holes and accessing fasteners where surrounding components limit clearance. |
| Industrial maintenance and repair | Installing sensors, proximity switches, and brackets inside machinery or behind motors. |
| Conveyor maintenance | Mounting guides, sensors, guards, and brackets within conveyor frames. |
| Heavy-duty service and component overhauls | Drilling and fastening around engines, hydraulic systems, chassis components, and transmissions. |
Consider the complete working space when evaluating fit, including the drill, battery, accessory, and room needed to hold and control the tool.

Understanding Speed and Fastening Control
The D3331 has two speed modes, with maximum free speeds of 650 RPM in low and 2,000 RPM in high. The dual-speed selector supports switching between controlled fastening and higher-speed drilling applications.
Within the selected mode, the variable-speed trigger provides additional speed control. This helps you control the tool when starting holes or driving smaller fasteners.
| Control | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Low-speed mode | Provides a maximum free speed of 650 RPM for work requiring lower operating speeds and controlled fastening. |
| High-speed mode | Provides a maximum free speed of 2,000 RPM for higher-speed drilling applications. |
| Variable-speed trigger | Adjusts operating speed within the selected mode. |
| Forward/reverse control | Selects the direction of rotation for the task. |
Free-speed ratings describe the tool running without a load. Operating speed varies with the work being performed.
The D3331 has no adjustable clutch positions. Trigger control helps manage speed during fastening, but it does not establish a preset tightening torque.
Accessing Confined Work Areas
The D3331’s 3.3-inch head height, 11.8-inch overall length, and slim handle support maneuverability around surrounding components. The right-angle layout allows the chuck to reach work locations that may be difficult to access with a standard drill.
Potential applications include work behind dashboards, within conveyor frames, and inside machine enclosures. Depending on the task, the compact head may reduce the disassembly needed to reach the drilling or fastening location.
Seeing the Work Area
The integrated LED light bar is angled toward the chuck and work surface. This helps reduce shadows and improve visibility when drilling or fastening in tight areas with limited external lighting.
Direct illumination is useful inside machinery, behind dashboards, and around closely spaced components where the tool or surrounding structure may block overhead light.
Accessory Compatibility
The D3331 features a ⅜-inch keyless chuck for compatible drilling and driving accessories. The keyless design allows accessory changes without a chuck key.
Select accessories suited to the material and application, and follow the applicable tool and accessory installation instructions. Chuck capacity alone does not establish the maximum hole diameter the drill can produce in a particular material.
Battery Platform
The D3331 is part of the IQV20™ cordless battery platform. It works with all IQV20 batteries, allowing users to share batteries with other tools across the platform.
Cordless operation supports mobile work around vehicles and industrial equipment without requiring an air compressor or electrical outlet at the work location.
