Maintaining Your W8000 Series Impact Wrench

Overview

Routine maintenance helps keep your W8000 Series impact wrench operating safely, reliably, and at peak performance.

Most operator maintenance consists of regular cleaning, visual inspections, proper battery care, and using the correct accessories. More extensive maintenance—such as lubricating the hammer mechanism—is only required during service or repair.

Routine Maintenance

Complete these checks before use or at the end of each shift.

1. Clean the Tool

Note: Do not use cleaning products that may damage labels, plastics, or other tool components.

Wipe the tool with a clean cloth to remove:

• Dirt
• Dust
• Grease
• Oil
• Metal chips
• Other debris

Pay particular attention to:

• Housing
• Air vents
• Trigger
• Battery connection
• Anvil
• LED work light

2. Inspect the Tool

While cleaning the tool, inspect it for signs of damage or excessive wear.

Check for:

• Cracked housing
• Loose fasteners
• Damaged trigger
• Bent or worn anvil
• Damaged retaining ring or socket retainer
• Excessive wear
• Missing labels

If any damage could affect safe operation or tool performance, remove the tool from service until it has been repaired.

3. Check the Battery

Verify the battery:

• Locks securely into the tool
• Is free of cracks or impact damage
• Has clean electrical contacts
• Charges normally

Replace damaged batteries immediately.

Lubrication

The hammer mechanism is lubricated during assembly and only requires lubrication when the tool is disassembled for service. The service interval listed in the product manual is every eight hours of runtime.

If the hammer case is removed:

1. Apply only the approved lubricant specified in the Product Information Manual.
2. Apply the recommended amount of grease to the hammer mechanism, gears, and anvil components.
3. Replace the hammer case screws whenever possible.
4. If the screws are reused, clean the threads thoroughly and apply a medium-strength thread-locking compound before reassembly.

Important: Using an incorrect lubricant or excessive grease can reduce tool performance. Always follow the Product Information Manual for approved lubricants and application quantities.

Storage

When storing the tool:

1. Clean the exterior.
2. Remove the battery for extended storage.
3. Store indoors in a clean, dry location.
4. Protect the tool from excessive heat, moisture, and impact.

Inspect the tool before returning it to service after long-term storage.

When Maintenance Isn't Enough

Routine maintenance helps prevent many common issues, but it cannot correct every problem.
