Use this article to prepare and operate 2236QTiMAX Series and 2236QXPA air impact wrenches.
Safety Notice
Wear eye and hearing protection. Shut off the air, relieve pressure, and disconnect the hose before changing accessories or performing maintenance. Use impact-rated accessories in good condition. Read the complete Air Impact Wrench Safety Information before use.
Before You Begin
- Identify the complete tool model.
- Inspect the tool, anvil, socket, hose, and fittings.
- Confirm that the attachment is securely retained.
- Complete any lubrication due before operation.
- Secure the workpiece and provide sufficient clearance.
Tools & Materials
- Suitable compressed-air supply
- Hose with at least 3/8-inch inside diameter
- Appropriate 1/4-inch NPT inlet connection
- Compatible impact-rated socket or DXS® attachment
- Specified lubricants and required personal protective equipment
Preparing the Air Supply
- Inspect and clean the connections before attaching the hose.
- Use properly sized filtration, regulation, and lubrication equipment.
- Provide an accessible shutoff valve and the hose-protection devices specified in the Product Information manual.
- Check pressure at the tool inlet while the tool is running. Follow the tool’s pressure marking; do not exceed PMAX.
The minimum hose dimension is its inside diameter. Long hoses, restrictive couplers, and simultaneous air demand can reduce the supply available at the tool.
For the pressure-check procedure and video, see Dynamic Air Pressure.
