The Ingersoll Rand® QC Clutch Series Cordless Tools are designed for assembly applications that require repeatable fastening, cordless mobility, and operator feedback. The series combines an auto-shutoff clutch with cordless operation and is available in programmable and non-programmable configurations.
QC Series tools are available as pistol screwdrivers and angle nutrunners, with torque ranges from 0.5 to 30 Nm, depending on the model.
Use this article to learn about the QC Clutch Series and find the setup, operation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting information you need.
Explore the QC Clutch Series
QC Series tools use an adjustable auto-shutoff clutch to provide repeatable torque for assembly applications. Depending on the model, QC tools include features such as:
- Lockable clutch adjustment
- Visual cycle-status feedback
- Work-area illumination
- IQV20™ battery compatibility
- Pistol or angle configurations
- Programmable or non-programmable operation
QC Series tools are designed for high-speed assembly environments and are rated for more than 500,000 cycles.
Understand QCP and QCN Models
The QC Clutch Series includes two primary types of tools.
QCP Programmable Models
QCP models support programming through the INSIGHT™ Connect app. Programmable settings include RPM and supported advanced tool parameters, allowing the tool configuration to be adapted to application requirements. QCP tools also provide clutch-controlled fastening with the option of advanced software programming.
Choose a QCP model when your application requires the additional flexibility provided by configurable tool settings.
For programming instructions, see Programming a QC Programmable Clutch Tool Using INSIGHT Connect.
QCN Non-Programmable Models
QCN models provide clutch-controlled fastening without software programming. The tool's mechanical clutch controls the fastening torque.
Choose a QCN model when your application requires repeatable clutch-controlled fastening without programmable tool settings.
Most QC Series setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting information applies to both QCP and QCN tools. Articles identify any instructions that apply only to programmable models.
Choose a Tool Configuration
QC Series tools are available in two primary configurations.
Pistol Screwdrivers
QC pistol screwdrivers feature a 1/4-inch hex drive and are available in torque ranges from 0.5 to 12 Nm, depending on the model.
The pistol configuration is designed for applications where fasteners can be comfortably approached with a traditional pistol-grip tool.
Angle Nutrunners
QC angle nutrunners feature a 3/8-inch square drive and provide a 15–30 Nm torque range.
The angle configuration can provide better access where workspace or fastener location makes a straight approach difficult.
For help comparing configurations and selecting a model, see Choosing the Right QC Clutch Series Tool.
Set Up and Use Your Tool
Before operating a QC Series tool, make sure the tool, battery, and fastening accessories are appropriate for your application.

These articles cover basic tool preparation and operation, including clutch adjustment and tool feedback.
Program a QCP Tool
QCP models can be configured using INSIGHT Connect on supported mobile and desktop devices.
Programmable settings include RPM and additional advanced parameters supported by the tool.
See Programming a QC Programmable Clutch Tool Using INSIGHT Connect for connection and programming instructions.
Note: Programming instructions apply only to QCP programmable models. QCN models do not require INSIGHT Connect.
Maintain Your Tool
Routine inspection and care can help keep your QC Series tool ready for use.
See Maintaining a QC Clutch Series Tool for information about:
- Inspecting the tool
- Cleaning the tool
- Caring for the battery
- Storing the tool
Tool repair and service should be performed by an Ingersoll Rand Authorized Service Center.
