Maintaining Your 2922 Series Pneumatic Impact Wrench

Regular lubrication and inspection help maintain the performance and service life of your Ingersoll Rand® 2922 Series Pneumatic Impact Wrench.

The 2922 Series requires regular lubrication of both the air motor and impact mechanism. Use this guide for routine maintenance, and refer to the 2922 Series Maintenance Information for complete service and repair procedures.

Safety Notice: Always wear appropriate eye protection when operating or performing maintenance on the tool. Turn off the air supply and disconnect the air hose before installing, removing, or adjusting accessories or performing maintenance.

Before Each Use

Before operating the tool:

• Inspect the tool, air hose, fittings, and accessories for visible damage or excessive wear.
• Make sure all connections are secure.
• Inspect sockets and accessories for damage or excessive wear.
• Lubricate the air motor with 8–12 drops of Ingersoll Rand #10 Air Tool Oil through the air inlet.

Do not use damaged hoses, fittings, sockets, or accessories.

Lubricate the Air Motor

Lubricate the air motor before each use.

1. Disconnect the tool from the air supply.
2. Add 8–12 drops of Ingersoll Rand #10 Air Tool Oil through the air inlet.
3. Reconnect the air supply.

Lubricate the Impact Mechanism

The 2922 Series uses a pressure-fed lubrication system to distribute grease throughout the impact mechanism.

After every 48 hours of tool runtime:

1. Disconnect the tool from the air supply.
2. Locate the grease fitting on the side of the tool.
3. Apply 4 cc of Ingersoll Rand #170 Grease through the grease fitting.
4. Wipe away any excess grease.

Note: The 48-hour interval refers to accumulated runtime—the amount of time the tool's trigger is pressed—not 48 calendar hours.

Routine Inspection

Periodically inspect the tool for:

• Loose or damaged components
• Excessive wear
• Air leaks
• Damage to the air inlet or fittings
• Unusual noise or vibration
• Reduced power or torque
• Changes in impact performance

If you identify damage or a condition requiring internal repair, stop using the tool and refer to the 2922 Series Maintenance Information or contact an authorized service provider.

Before Storage

Before storing the tool:

• Disconnect it from the air supply.
• Remove dirt and debris from the exterior.
• Store the tool in a clean, dry location.
